Dave Copeland

Dave Copeland had a long and distinguished career in Gymnastics. He committed his life to gymnastics through coaching, training & judging for over 49 years.

Dave himself was a National level athlete in 1976, providing great practical knowledge and experience for his athletes.  Dave was a JO Level 10 coach for 43 years and had judged at the Olympic level.

His experiences throughout Canada, the United States and many other places in the world have served gymnastics well as his knowledge has benefited everyone he has met. Dave was a mentor to many throughout the industry and helped to foster many generations of outstanding athletes and coaches.

When we moved into this facility in December 2015, we could not have done it without Dave’s knowledge of equipment and best practices for a well running gym layout.

Dave retired from Spruce Grove Aerials in 2016 due to illness, and passed away in September of 2018.  He will be missed dearly by his athletes, fellow coaches and colleagues alike.  Dave contributed many years to Aerials Gymnastics and in his honor, we have renamed our Invitational to the Copeland Classic!
